Matthew Hanick is a queer Toronto-based journalist, editor, and producer. He currently works as a media relations specialist with DMPublic, Canada’s leading arts and cultural communications agency. His arts and culture reporting has appeared in Toronto Life, This Magazine, Spacing, CanCulture, and more.
He previously worked as an editorial intern at the National Post, producing daily multimedia news stories for the web team. Driven by cultural impact and online engagement in an ever-changing news cycle, he brings a strong news mentality to every project.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master of Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University. During his post-secondary studies, he was very active in student publishing and helped emerging writers develop engaging creative writing, interviews, and news stories.
He is currently available for freelance writing, editing, media production or other related work.
